Tremendous kindness from unexpected donations this Christmas has meant that a centre in Luton has a huge mountain of extra gifts for local children.
Following the downturn experienced by most charities, businesses, and families in the UK this year, Marsh Farm Futures (MFF) based in The Moakes, Luton decided to bring on some Christmas cheer and provide presents for children in Marsh Farm and surrounding areas. Pledging a large amount to the project, they were delighted and amazed that local businesses were also keen to get involved and now Santa is bringing a massive mountain of over THREE THOUSAND gifts to put the smiles on school children’s faces.
Mayoress Maria Lovell even made time to pop into MFF and help wrap some of the childrens presents. The Mayoress was only too pleased to support, as being a local resident for many years previously herself in Marsh Farm.
"In a year where school children were having to stay at home because of the virus, many experiencing loneliness and anxiety, it is absolutely amazing and wonderful to bring happiness and smiles again on their faces," said Cathy McShane, MFF Youth & Community Manager.”
“We have a strong tradition for supporting local communities especially during troubled times, this year we really have surpassed all expectations. It just goes to show Luton can move mountains when they have to and now, we have a mountain of presents to be delivered by Father Christmas," said Mohammed Rafi - MFF, CEO.
Annette White, Board Director at MFF said, "I know how our local community may struggle during this festive period, so I felt that as a local business owner and mother myself, it was only right that I support such a worthwhile cause and am delighted the children will get just a little gift from us."
Sponsors including: Marsh Farm Futures, NISA local, Osprey UK Associates, Marsh Farm Fundraising Group, Futures Community Voice and Councillor Anne Donelon. Any donations will be going to help support - Keech Hospice Care.
