A lot of people don't understand how important it is for a business leader to inspire others. But how do you encourage your team and others to participate, be motivated to grow and create that inspirational company culture?
Let's look at what inspiration is. It starts from an evocation: an idea, an object, a person or an event. It comes from within us, from our personality traits and abilities. Nobody else can really motivate you unless you yourself want to be motivated. No matter what kind of people surround us, inspiration is something that needs to be activated inside each individual person for them to truly identify with it.
For me personally, inspiration has come from many people in my life who have truly been there to support my visions, my work ethic, my core principles and my belief in being kind, humble and to act with integrity to name a few. My father had to be one of the most inspirational people for me. For over fifty years he dedicated his life to tech. He was a true inventor who never gave up on his dreams and aspirations, even when he seemed to be losing everything. He carried on the fight of building tech that is used in server diagnostics to this day. So I can honestly say I admire people who give you those sorts of opportunities and motivation to shine!
Being an inspirational leader for me is about allowing those around us and ourselves to have the courage and motivation to try those hair-brained ideas, make mistakes, learn from it, pick yourself up and start again. But know in your heart of hearts that you can truly achieve what you set out to do. Support others in creating opportunities to meet their goals. Each one of us can make a difference with the right attitude!
So how does inspiration work exactly?
Inspiration has two components: one being an internal feeling and the other being specific knowledge/skills/abilities associated with it, which you can learn to trigger through inspiration itself.
It can affect your subconscious mind in many different ways which often leads you to find new solutions, ideas, meanings and even beliefs about yourself and the world based on how inspiration affects your perception.
In order to master how to inspire people, you need to know what already inspires them. Understanding what truly makes people tick. Think about it, what actually makes you tick?
You’ll learn that showing empathy is one of the most powerful tools in mastering how to inspire others; in business and your personal relationships.
Inspiration isn't something that can be used as a tool while everything else will remain unchanged. Inspiration itself starts changing people. This means that when you're trying to inspire others around you they'll start being more motivated about their own goals which will have a knock-on effect with the goals of other people working with them.
More inspirational company culture will certainly lead to more ideas being shared resulting in better collaborative work. As a result motivation and inspiration will start spreading across the business like a virus.
Why is inspiration so special and should we always be trying to inspire others around us...?
Your perception of inspiration is altered in a way that makes you want more out of life and that's special! Inspiration creates an increasing desire for positive change which usually becomes an unstoppable process once started.
Building good honest relationships will build trust, which in turn, will support building collaborative inspiration.
People are inspired by their peers who are doing great things. Achieving goals becomes easier when people are inspired by others around them.
By understanding inspiration, you'll master how to inspire others in your business, working with clients and other people. We all want people around us who are inspired by what we do. Being a role model and inspiring the next generation is an important part of living life well, so it's great when you're able to help out in this way.
In the end, inspiration starts changes that last. That's why inspiration is so powerful and should never be underestimated as a tool.
We need more inspiration in the world today by everyone, especially business leaders who can inspire participation, growth and create a more inspirational company culture!
Inspiration is one of the most powerful tools you have at your disposal!
